Public Safety and Keeping Our Special Loved Ones Safe in an Emergency

No one ever expects a crisis to occur, especially in our public schools. Regardless, our local law enforcement works every single day preparing for such events. Are you concerned about how your school aged child, or adult with a developmental disability would react in such a situation. There are ways we can prepare our loved ones to be aware and recognize when they might be in danger. Additionally, this population often does not recognize when their own activities (especially on the internet) could place them in danger, nor do they often realize that their behaviors on line could be inviting trouble.

Officer Anne Malautea has worked for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for 22 years with total LE of 25 years. She has served as the CHAMPS Coordinator for 7 years and started teaching the DARE program in 2009. She is responsible for implementing the CHAMPS program for 8 elementary schools. Besides teaching, she is certified as a SRO, PREA Investigator and Classification Officer. Out of all her positions, her passion is teaching.

Alyssa Kendrick is no stranger to ExOPS. She has worked to coordinate special presentations and programs for our Socialization Program and has been instrumental in creating a great connection to our kids.
